In this day and Age where everyone seems to love to grab a cup of Joe on the go I was wondering what people like better. Is your preference Coffee from Dunkin' Doughnuts or Starbucks?
I myself love Both, but I tend to drink Dunkin' Doughnuts coffee more often. It's a little cheeper than starbucks I think that's why I get it there.

Neither. The Student Cafe on Byres Road. Where they serve authentic Italian coffee, made by authentic Italians.

DD all the way, although some of their iced coffees verge on the nasty side.

I was under the impression that all of these places sell undrinkable coffee...isn't it loaded with more caffine than red bull.

When I have the choice and want coffee, STARBUX! For other drinks like the Coolatas, Dunkies. My neighborhood has both, side-by-side. When I need breakfast to go, I'll get food from Dunkins and coffee from Starbucks.

I have to admit the Starbucks range of Tazo tea is worth the money, and you do get a whacking big mug, ideal on a freezing winters day.smile

I have actually never had Starbucks, but I am constantly hearing about it! I adore coffee.

starbucks is a bit srong for me. but both are good though my taste for dunkies coffee is slipping somewhat.

Post 14 by Jesse (Hmm!) on Thursday, 08-Sep-2005 9:58:04

Dunkin for straight coffee, Starbucks for the espresso/cappuccino varieties. Sorry, but the Dunkin range of that stuff just don't turn me on, except an iced Caramel Latte with lots of sugar, and very little ice.

Post 15 by Telemachus (Death: the destroyer of worlds.) on Friday, 09-Sep-2005 2:22:19

Starbucks! Only because we don't have any Dunkin' Doughnuts here in Utah. When I move to Boston, I'll get back to you.

I like mocha Frappuccinos from Starbucks. Sometimes I'll have it with raspberry in it, and it's sooooo yummy.

Star Bucks. I really don't care for Duncan Doenuts' coffee it's not strong enough, and there's not enough variety, also their iced coffees are nasty, not blended properly at all. The milk sits on top, all plane and boring and bla, then you get the whole ice cubes, not crushed and blended in, not even broken up, then a layer of way too sweet sirup mixed with mediocre coffee concintrate. People, use a friggin blender, try a higher quality coffee stock, and ease up on the sirup a bit. Their doenuts aren't that great either, I much prefer home made or Crispy Creams. Yay, Crispy Creams. for their varieties of coffee and tea, their baged coffee, and their blended fruit and chocolate drinks I far prefer star bucks. Their pastries are better too. I will say however, that although I prefer star bucks to Duncan Doenuts, I prefer Java's to Star Bucks. They use higher quality ingreedients, will make custom drinks and smoothies, and have a more developed clientelle of students and musicians, and often have live jazz, or impromptu broadway and show tune sing alongs going on. I've got to try those pumpkin breakfast scones. Thanks, and yum. I will also try the blend with the raspburry, thanks to you as well.

I usually drink black columbian coffee or black xpresso. Starbucks is okay but overpriced. Dunk'in doughnuts coffee is okay but their doughnuts are fantastic!

I love Starbucks! They have a wide veriety that dd just can't compare. And there's tastes loads better then dd as well. I also love the atmosphere at starbucks. It has good music and comfortable chairs. But I don't have a starbucks close to me right now. Frowns. But I still love it.

Post 21 by Pink Pineapple (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 17-Mar-2006 12:40:41

Well coffe wise I will always want Star Bucks, because the moca phrapachino just rules.
But DD wise their chressonts rule

Post 22 by wahaha (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 30-Mar-2006 15:13:23

at times Starbucks is borderline undrinkable, but I like cappucino and the only place to find it on a regular basis and consistent (if somewhat bad), no matter where you are in the world, is Starbucks. Since finding out about Starbuck's "short" size espresso drinks, I've enjoyed my cappucino much more as it actually tastes like a cappucino, instead of an espresso drenched in milk (plus its cheaper!)

I don't think I've ever had Ducan Dougnuts coffee or their dougnuts yet. So Starbucks for me right now! Thanks for the idea about the pumpkin scone! I've only had one of their cookies.

Well, there's no Dunkin Donuts in this part of the country. Since I live in Seattle, Starbucks are everywhere, and although I like them, I dunno, I'd like to find a lesser-known chain or even just a local place that's unique to itself. There was a Tully's near us, but it closed.

I drink coffee or coffee with straight espresso in it, no syrup / milk. That being said, I used to say only Starbucks but the coffee is improving in a lot of smaller or more mainstream venues. I'll go the local coffee shop first, then Starbucks, then 7/11 for the coffee, then a doughnut place.
Yunno people just don't eat doughnuts anymore, not like when we were kids.
I do also like the cranberry orange scones from Starbucks and some other places.

Post 29 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Thursday, 17-Jun-2010 19:44:00

I love doughnuts and coffee. I used to like Duncan Doughnuts' coffee but now prefer the ones I buy from Harmony Bay, International House of Coffee etc. And then, there's Teeccino, which is a whole other ball game, not coffee at all but totally yummy! I've never tried the flavoured stuff from Star Bucks but their regular coffee didn't impress me all that much, and as has been said, it's overpriced. My new favourite is Rain Forest coffee from Harmony Bay. I'd like to try some local coffee shops but am not sure if there are any near me, so need to find out.

Post 30 by Grace (I've now got the ggold prolific poster award! wahoo! well done to me!) on Thursday, 17-Jun-2010 19:45:19

all this coffee talk and I realize I haven't
had so much as one cup all day...
think I will go and make some

also I find a cheaper way to make like a "fancy"
cup of coffee without all the expense is
to make one at home...

Like by adding a topping of cool whip
with a few sprinkles of nutmeg or other spice
can turn a plain cup of coffee into more so a desert beverage

Cheers!

Yah, and, I often refer to a particular Starbucks as Buckies or, even, Buckiepoos. I'd never refer to the entire enterprise with such a diminutive term of endearment. Hahahaha.

Post 37 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 23-Jul-2010 13:33:45

There was a blind taste test done by coffee experts on various brands, from the cheapest to the most expensive, and believe it or not, MacDonald's coffee was number 1! Mom told me about this a few months ago, so unfortunately, I don't have the site. But she's usually very accurate when reporting things to me. I'm actually drinking an iced coffee from them right now and it's pretty good, though a bit on the sweet side and slightly weaker than I'm used to. then again, it could just be the ice melting in the cup. But their hot coffee really is delicious.

Post 38 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Friday, 23-Jul-2010 15:41:39

Maybe they don't brew it strong enough for ice. Can you buy the whole beans and brew it yourself, do your own taste test? Haha. I might have tride McDonnald's coffee, once, and found it satisfactory.

Post 39 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Friday, 23-Jul-2010 15:53:33

Macdonalds uses Seattle's Best out here ... my only complaint with their coffee is that it's not hot enough but that isn't their fault, we can thank the suer (or sewer?) of Macdonalds who burnt herself and sued because there was no warning or whatever the trouble was.

Post 40 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 23-Jul-2010 16:06:16

She either had half a brain or was so into money that she was willing to make herself look like an asshole to get it. Seriously, it's coffee. It *should* be hot and you *shouldn't* put the cup between your legs when driving. That's why the cup holder is there.

Post 41 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Friday, 23-Jul-2010 16:35:57

You'd think there are "reasonable expectations", such as, "coffee will be hot", but, there don't seem to be, In the US, at any rate. Re, McDonalds coffee, I think, here in New England, it's either Newman's Own, or Green Mountain. Both are decent brands, btw, though, I prefer something a bit more burned-tasting.

Post 42 by squidwardqtentacles (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 26-Jul-2010 15:41:12

I remember that plaintiff! Don't swear me to it, folks, but I believe she lived in the same state I did in the '90's...Florida.

She was an elderly lady who got McDonald's coffee via the drive thru. She put it between her legs and stepped on the accel, and surprise, it spilled. She sued, claiming there was no warning on the cup that it was hot. Huh?! If I wanted cold caffeine, I'd get me a soda. Can't remember the decision that was rendered since that was many years ago.

My ex boyfriend's elderly mother even thought the suit was stupid, and she was in her seventies at the time. Josie had the sense to not put hot coffee between her legs while driving.

cafe delirium makes the best coffee i have ever drank anywhere any time. too bad it only is the one and it is in portland!!!!

NI hate starbucks which my frainds and I call charbucks. When I was young that kind of brew had sat on the burner too long and we threw it out. It always has a nasty taste.

My favorites are Peets Seattle's best and duncan. I like the new frappes from mcdonalds but don't want to drink that stuff too much as I know they use the high fructose corn syrup in their sweet tea. Don't want to get adicted you know.

Post 44 by turricane (happiness and change are choices ) on Tuesday, 27-Jul-2010 10:31:09

to the person who was outraged at the high caffeine in coffee, excuse me but isn't that the point? Caffeine is my best friend. Coffee certainly tastes better for us and is better for the ol' body than red bull which has a bunch of crap in it i can't pronounce. besides it tastes like a substance i can't mention on a board frequented by nice people who don't know the words i do.

Post 45 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Tuesday, 27-Jul-2010 10:45:23

lol Piss? Just a guess, since I never had it. Anyway, not everyone drinks coffee for the caffeine. Some just like it for the taste. But it definitely helps to have a pick-me-up, so long as it's done in moderation. I'm about to go and have a cup now actually.

Post 46 by silly_singer (The girl who's always lost in a melody) on Tuesday, 27-Jul-2010 11:11:47

Wow!

I'd forgotten all about creating this bord topic! *smile*

I too remember that McDonold's sute.

My mother, sister and I used to poke fun of the "hot liquid" warning on the cups that rendered. We used to place our order, head back to the car, and as my sister would hand my cup to me, she and my mother would yell "uh-oh" it says "hot" on the cup but since it's not in braille should we go back in and yell at the folks inside for ya?

We always got a good laugh out of that.

Post 47 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Tuesday, 27-Jul-2010 21:38:25

If it's just the caffeine you want, pop a handful of No-Doze. I like the flavor, scent, and social parts of coffee drinking.

Post 48 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Tuesday, 27-Jul-2010 23:47:04

The problem with caffeine pills, if you must use them, is that the American ones only come in 200mg. The European ones come in 100mg, which is equivalent to one cup of coffee.

Post 49 by turricane (happiness and change are choices ) on Wednesday, 28-Jul-2010 9:24:11

I really prefer Dunkin but in San Diego I don't have that choice. We can buy their coffee in the store, but that's not quite the same. So I sometimes go to starbucks when I'm in the mood for coffee.
